What’s your favorite rapid and what makes it special?
Husum Falls on the White Salmon, this rapid is special because it demands precise timing and never fails to drench everyone in the boat! It is tall, powerful and considered a class 5 rapid. Getting to take people over it sometimes aged 70 and older checks off bucket list goals for many. The excitement and bad assery it makes you feel is like nothing else!
Why do you love working for Mother Lode?
I love working for Mother Lode because of the variety of skills I get to learn and practice. Belay instructing, teaching gold rush history and taking students through detailed river courses keeps me interested and constantly expands my knowledge!
What’s one of your favorite adventures?
Favorite adventure was my road trip back to California after a season on the Royal Gorge (Arkansas River). I hiked in Leadville, got eddied out in Moab where I skydived 3 times in a tutu, explored 2 national parks, climbed red rocks, rafted the Daily and Westwater canyon, learned to fire spin, hula hoop, slack line and perform acro yoga and fell in love with desert. I came home for a month and went right back for the winter! Bouncing back and forth to Moab and Durango for ski season.
