What’s your favorite rapid and what makes it special?
When I’m kayaking, any good wave train is my favorite. There’s nothing like feeling the rhythm of the river beneath you. I hope to discover many more wave trains in the years ahead.
Why do you love working at Mother Lode River Center?
Originally, I was searching for a remote job — but I secretly enjoy coming into the office (shh, don’t tell Greg or Scott). Mother Lode introduced me to commercial guiding and the joy of taking someone on the river for the first time. It also connected me to a river community I’ve always wanted to be part of.
Working here means being surrounded by people who love the river as much as I do. I also get to work closely with the owner and manager, who constantly encourage and push me to grow. And most importantly, Mother Lode introduced me to river conservation — something that completely changed how I view rivers and the whitewater industry.
What’s one of your favorite adventures?
Driving to Baja for nearly a month with my dog Pretzel and my partner Riley. We lived entirely out of our rooftop tent, explored new places, and I felt a deep connection to the ocean for the first time. It was one of the most magical experiences of my life.
