Cherry Creek

Cherry Creek – The Ultimate Whitewater Adventure

Cherry Creek is widely viewed as the most challenging commercially run river in California. Some even say it’s the most challenging in the United States. The run consists of 15 Class V rapids, characterized by the canyon’s steep gradient. You’ll encounter massive boulders, steep drops, and narrow chutes. While the whitewater is unmatched, the beauty of the canyon will stand out throughout the trip as well.

For this run, you will meet up the night prior. You’ll receive an evening of Class V instruction to ensure you are prepared for the trip the following day. After a quick breakfast, you’ll encounter some Class IV rapids right away. After, your swimming skills will be tested in a Class II rapid before the trip continues on to the Class V section.

Corkscrew and Jawbone are the first Class V rapids you will encounter. Next, you’ll encounter Mushroom rapid. Then when you think you’ve experienced the ultimate whitewater thrill, you’ll come up on Miracle Mile, a full mile of Class V rapids. This river doesn’t let up! After you’ve made your way through the Class V+ rapid, Lewis’ Leap, you’ll help portage your boat around 2 waterfalls. After three Class IV rapids, you’ll reach take out and eat a well-deserved, hearty lunch.
